The show was set in a bar called McGee in New York City. Carl is the bartender in the show. Bay and Thomas relate their friendship in creating the characters, with Ted Mosby based loosely on Bays, and Marshall and Lily based loosely on Thomas and his wife. The wife of Thomas, Rebecca was initially reluctant to have a character based on her, but agreed if they could get Alyson Hannigan to play her. Fortunately, Hannigan was available, and was looking to do more work.
How I Met Your Mother Season 6 Episode 22 entitled “The Perfect Cocktail” follows Lily and Robin who tried to force Barney and Marshall to make amends after an agument. Ted plans a weekend away with Zoey. The new episode on Season 6 entitled “Landmarks” features Ted making his own decision that could affect his relationship; his friends share their real opinions of Zoey.
